Robert Grayson, Consultant

Robert Grayson possesses a wide ranging skill set.  On a limited basis, he is able to serve as a consultant or collaborator in several different areas.  In each case, the goal is to assist and promote the advancement of performers, performing organizations, and to acquaint and recruit the public to support the arts.

Collegiate Opera Consulting

  • Assessing your program and resources
  • Connecting with your community
  • Value-added fundraising

From 1998-2012 Robert Grayson's initiatives and personal interactions have raised nearly $2,000,000 for the Voice/Opera Division at LSU and Opera Louisiane (a regional company founded by Grayson in 2007).  If your program has committed faculty,  a supportive administration, and a few influential members of the public, a viable three year plan may be developed that will enable your opera program to flourish, regardless of the economy.  Site visits can be arranged according to detailed protocol and a business plan can be developed with administrators, faculty, business, and private donors.  Why settle for shrinking budgets and under-attended performances?

Master Classes

  • In Performance, Operatic Repertoire, Art Song
  • Developing and managing a career
  • Success in college teaching

Grayson combines systematic and targeted advice, which is delivered with clarity and humor,  to put students at ease in the master class setting.  Having worked with Gerard Souzay, Elly Ameling, Peter Pears, Gwendolyn Koldofsky and many giants within the world of opera, Grayson is at home with nearly all types of repertoire.  Additionally, he presents detailed and practical information about developing a professional singing career.  As a mentor to 27 DMA graduates and with 38 years of college teaching, he presents step by step goals for graduate students and for the young voice/opera professor.  Individual coachings may be added to the schedule for site visits.
